WikiPolicy

An open source platform that allows anyone to contribute to how society is governed and informing public policy development

Vision:   Strong public policy that responds to the public’s needs and wants.
Purpose: Provide a source of well canvassed and debated policy ideas.

How:
  1. Broad base of ideas generation to solve society’s wicked problems (starting with UN Global Goals: http://www.globalgoals.org).
  2. Ideas are organised to facilitate debate (online and at live events)
  3. Synthesised responses influence government decisions and have the impact wanted by the public
The problem:

We live in an era of unprecedented rate of change. We face wicked problems of growing complexity. The expectations we have of our governments keep growing but the time frames we give them to meet those expectations are reducing. The public needs a vehicle to express ideas and help to grow and shape their idea. Politicians need to know whether those ideas have been contested so that the political risks of implementation that currently hold back good policy can be reduced significantly.

The idea:

To develop an open source platform that allows anyone to contribute directly by offering ideas or building on and shaping ideas of others. Through facilitated debate on line or at live events ideas will be honed, contested and synthesised providing a credible policy library that can be accessed by politicians, business leaders and the community at large. This will help to fast-track good policy outcomes and help government be much more responsive to the public’s needs.
